Welcome to my blog!

I have been planning this blog for a while, thinking about what I want to share and how best to do it. I love engaging with others on social media and use Facebook , LinkedIn ( http://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelafirth) and Twitter (@michaelafirth8) which I love! Ive made new friends, met new colleagues, found great places to visit , heard new , and old music…in summary its a fantastic way to add colour to life!

I have a passion for many things; first and foremost my family and friends. And those close to me will recognise my absolute love of music. Music really is a ‘first love’ bringing with it pleasure and sometimes pain. Music moves me, creating a emotional reaction which is wonderful. I spend as much time as possible listening to music, and whenever I can, listening to music ‘live’. Music is a real gift and in my record collection you will find a predominance of rock music from Led Zeppelin to Foo Fighters, from Pink Floyd to The Who , Guns and Roses to Springsteen with a little bit of ABBA thrown in for dancing! and of that list I have seen them all, except ABBA!

You will see from my blog posts , I will add in a link to a relevant track , I hope you like this feature.

I work in the NHS in England,  something which I consider a privilege.  I have a desire to help keep it ‘well, to nurture it , to help improve it for patients and staff alike. My NHS career has been varied and exciting, including roles in PCTs, the Dept of Health, SHAs, NHS Direct and the NHS Institute. During my career I have been given the opportunity to work with some wonderful people from whom I have learnt a great deal. If I can give something back , to share experiences, I feel I am paying back that privilege. The opportunity to be able to engage with others , to share thoughts and ideas, to be able to debate and learn is a gift. Something I hope this blog will encourage. So I hope you get something from my musings and if you do, please let me know.

Carpe Diem!
